Guo Guirong, vice-mayor of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province, met with Karntimon Ruksakiati, outgoing consul general of Thailand, in Xiamen on Nov 29.
Guo thanked Ruksakiati for her contributions to the relationship between Xiamen and Thailand in trade, tourism and culture.
She expressed hope that Ruksakiati will continue working to improve relations between the two regions and wished her the best in all her future endeavors.
Ruksakiati expressed gratitude to the Xiamen municipal government and the city's Foreign Affairs Office, saying that she will continue to support the friendship between China and Thailand.
Karntimon Ruksakiati, who was first appointed as the consul general of Thailand in Xiamen one year ago, will assume the post of Thailand's ambassador to Norway next week.

China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
