Xiamen People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting friendship and cooperation between people of Xiamen and other cities around the world.
Established in April 1984, the association falls under the direction of the Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal People's Government and receives guidance from the Chinese and Fujian provincial people's associations for friendship with foreign countries.
Main tasks of the XMPAFFC include:
1 - Taking charge of Xiamen's foreign exchanges with non-governmental organizations around the world.
2 - Conducting mutual sporting and cultural exchanges and visits with non-governmental foreign organizations; receiving delegations in areas of civil culture, arts and sports; and holding performances and exhibitions.
3 - Cooperating with local government departments to enhance exchanges and cooperation with foreign organizations and friendly persons in sectors related to economy, science and technology, society, education and healthcare.
4 - Coordinating and managing friendly relations with Xiamen's sister cities.
5 - Receiving and hosting individuals and delegations from foreign countries, organizing visits to friendship organizations and taking part in relevant activities held by national and provincial associations for friendly relations.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
