Xiamen, Baltimore deepen links through youth exchanges
Zhang Quan, director general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen, met with Cindy Wang, chairwoman of the Baltimore-Xiamen Sister City Committee, on July 17.
Xiamen in East China's Fujian province and Baltimore in the United States became sister cities in 1985. The two have combined to help each other out in various key fields such as commerce and trade, education, healthcare, culture and art, and urban construction.
Zhang Quan expressed his gratitude to Cindy Wang for her contribution to the sister-city exchanges. Both sides reached consensus on such projects as expanding communications between primary and secondary schools and vocational schools, restarting on-site youth visits and promoting Baltimore's participation in attending the 23rd China International Fair for Investment and Trade in Xiamen.
From March to June, the Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen – along with the Xiamen Committee of the Communist Youth League and Xiamen Youth and Children's Palace – organized the city's young students to participate in a youth art exhibition among sister cities of Fujian and the US. The works of Xiamen students received high praise and were awarded certificates by the Foreign Affairs Office of Fujian Province.
