Xiamen, El Salvador's Metapan form friendly exchanges relationship
Xiamen city and Metapan city in El Salvador in Central America formally established friendly exchanges relationship on July 26.
Zhang Yanhui, the Chinese ambassador to El Salvador, Israel Peraza, Metapan's mayor and Zhuang Rongliang, Xiamen's vice-mayor, participated in the online celebration ceremony.
Zhuang said that Xiamen and Metapan possess respective advantages and characteristics, and have broad potential for exchanges and cooperation.
He expected the two cities to take the signing as a starting point, so as to make a positive contribution to the sustainable and healthy development of China-El Salvador relations.
Israel Peraza expressed his support to carry out friendly exchanges and cooperation with Xiamen, and urged the two cities to jointly promote practical cooperation in such fields as commerce and trade and in culture and education. He also invited Chinese entrepreneurs to visit Metapan and explore its business potential.
During the ceremony, Xiamen introduced a visiting scholar program launched by the Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital at Xiamen University. It also donated books on Chinese history, culture and social development to Metapan.
In addition, Xiamen C&D Light Industry Co Ltd signed an online cooperation agreement on coffee bean procurement with a coffee company in El Salvador. It's expected that the move will enable Chinese coffee dealers and El Salvador coffee producers to make further inroads into China's enormous coffee market.
