Visitors from Ceara, Brazil visit Xiamen
Cui Yonghui, secretary of the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee, met with Elmano de Freitas, governor of Ceara, Brazil, and his delegation on Sept 13.
Cui extended a warm welcome to the visitors and introduced his city as well as its economic and social development. Ceara and Fujian have been friendly provinces for more than 20 years, and the capital of Ceara, Fortaleza, recently became an international sister city of Xiamen. Both cities are port cities and have hosted the BRICS Leaders Meeting.
Using the BRICS cooperation mechanism, Xiamen hopes to work with Ceara to build the BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center, deepen their sister-city relationship, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture, education, medical health, and energy, promote cooperation to benefit the people on both sides, and make greater contributions to the relations between the two countries.
Freitas hailed Xiamen for its remarkable achievements in technological innovation, clean energy, health care, and artificial intelligence. Ceara will actively participate in the construction of the BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center, establishing closer ties with Xiamen.
