Surinamese officials visit Xiamen
Huang Wenhui, mayor of Xiamen city, met with a delegation led by Albert Ramdin, minister of foreign affairs and international business and international cooperation of Suriname on Nov 10.
Huang extended a warm welcome to the delegation visiting Xiamen and presented an overview of Xiamen's socio-economic development. He mentioned that Suriname was the first Caribbean country to sign the memorandum of understanding on jointly promoting the Belt and Road Initiative with China.
Xiamen is keen to continue its friendship with Suriname, enhance mutual understanding, and deepen practical cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, tourism to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. This will promote the development of the China-Suriname strategic partnership, said Huang.
Ramdin expressed his gratitude for the warm reception in Xiamen and stated that Suriname and China have a profound friendship that has yielded many achievements. Suriname will actively participate in major international initiatives, learn from China's development experience, and deepen cooperation in economic, cultural and other fields, he said.
Suriname is rich in mineral and tourism resources, and warmly welcomes more Xiamen enterprises to invest and build businesses in Suriname to achieve win-win development and better benefit the people of both places, he added.
