Cambodian King visits Xiamen
King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia led a delegation to Xiamen from Dec 20 to 21.
King Sihamoni arrived in Xiamen via the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway on Dec 20.
The delegation visited Xiamen University to learn about its development and educational achievements. King Sihamoni then met with representatives of Cambodian students studying at Xiamen University and Huaqiao University.
During the visit, he expressed hope that both countries could further strengthen educational cooperation, and provide more opportunities for Cambodian students to study in China.
King Sihamoni then visited Yundang Academy, a cultural landmark of Xiamen by Yundang Lake on Dec 21. He said that Yundang Lake is a typical example of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. China has many valuable experiences and practices in ecological environment protection that Cambodia can learn from, he said.
King Sihamoni departed the city from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport on the afternoon of Dec 21.
The leaders of Xiamen saw him off at the airport and presented him with a photo of the former King Norodom Sihanouk during his visit to Xiamen 40 years ago.
King Sihamoni expressed his gratitude for the warm reception in Xiamen and stated that he would treasure this precious gift and the wonderful memories of his visit to Xiamen.
