To promote cultural and youth exchanges and cooperation, a group of eight student representatives from Turkiye visited Xiamen from Aug 21 to 23.
Members of the group were from top universities in Turkiye including Istanbul University, Bogazici University and Okan University, with this being their first time to Xiamen.
During the trip, the Turkish youth visited Xiamen University to exchange ideas with academics and students from the Belt and Road Research Institute, to understand the cooperation between China and Turkiye in building the Belt and Road Initiative.
They also visited places like the Xiamen Special Economic Zone Memorial Hall to experience the achievements of Xiamen's reform and opening-up.
Additionally, they visited Wuyuan Bay and Gulangyu Island to learn about Xiamen's ecological conservation and the preservation of World Cultural Heritage sites.
On Aug 22, Zeng Jinji, deputy director general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Xiamen Municipal People's Government met with the Turkish delegation. She expressed her hope that the delegation would deepen their understanding of China through the visit, and to actively participate in cultural exchanges between China and Turkiye in the future.
Turkish youth students admired Xiamen's beautiful scenery and were impressed by the level of urban governance in Xiamen. They looked forward to studying in Xiamen in the future or visiting again, hoping to make more contributions to the development of Sino-Turkish relations.
China has introduced more than 110 measures to facilitate the entry of foreigners into China, increasing the number of foreign visitors.
