At the city departure hall of Xiamen North Railway Station, Mr Zhang from Quanzhou completed the check-in and baggage drop-off procedures for flight NX131 to Macao on Jan 16.
It marked the official opening of international flight services at the city departure hall of Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport.
After the launch of the service, passengers flying on international (regional) flights operated by Xiamen Airlines, Shandong Airlines and Air Macao can check in and handle baggage services at the city departure halls of Xiamen North Railway Station and Wutong Passenger Terminal.
After being transported directly to the airport via dedicated lines, passengers can proceed smoothly to boarding through immigration and security checks.
For outbound passengers transferring from high-speed trains or ferries to flights, there is no need to visit check-in counters. The duration of outbound procedures has been reduced from an average of 25 minutes to just five minutes.
With the introduction of a new model for seamless customs clearances of checked baggage and carry-on luggage at Xiamen Airport, the convenience of seamless customs clearance has been extended to the city terminals, in a bid to further enhance service quality and passenger satisfaction.
The initiative is said to provide passengers with a higher quality and more efficient travel experience.
Statistics show that since the start of multimodal transport integration in 2024, Xiamen Airport's multimodal transport project has benefited nearly 200,000 passengers.
The National Immigration Administration announced on Dec 17 that it will fully relax and optimize the visa-free transit policy, which is effective immediately. Xiamen is involved.
