On April 15, 2011, the Education Committee of the Daxing District and the Bureau of Social Development of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area officially launched innovation of the experimental school. 

In September 2011, the experimental school was converted to a public school and renamed as Yizhuang Branch of Beijing No. 2 Middle School. The school focuses on students' individual growth, characteristic education and quality education. In addition, through international high schools students have been granted opportunities to study in foreign countries such as the United States and Canada. 

In 2012, the school was rated as a civilized unit of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, an advanced school for science and technology education of Daxing District, an advanced school for arts education of Daxing District, and an advanced unit for information promotion of Daxing District. The teachers received over 150 national, municipal and district-level awards; the students received over 300 national, municipal and district-level awards. While meeting the educational needs of the Yizhuang New High-end Industrial City, it is achieving leapfrog development in cultural construction.
