As the last concrete tank was poured on May 6 smooth topping of the main steel structure of the No. 108 building of the Beijing Institute of Biological Products of Sinopharm China Biotech (Phase III of the Covid-19 Vaccine Workshop) was finalized after 70 days of construction. 

After the project is completed and put into use, the annual production capacity of China Biotech's Covid-19 vaccine will reach 3 billion doses.

"The completion and capping of the main steel structure is only an important part of the entire project. There is still a long way to go before the final completion. I hope that the construction team can continue to adhere to the principle of safety and high quality," said a person in charge of the project.

According to sources, the No. 108 building of the Beijing Institute of Biological Products of Sinopharm China Biotech is the world's largest vaccine production workshop and also its largest high-grade biosafety protection workshop. 

The engineering quality and biological safety must not be neglected. It took 70 days to go from the start of construction to the topping of the main steel structure, with over 500 workers laboring day and night.

Previously, the institute has made several breakthroughs in engineering construction: the first domestic Covid-19 vaccine production workshop was built in 58 days to help the research, development and marketing of the inactivated vaccine.

The second Covid-19 production workshop was built in 97 days to greatly increase the Covid-19 vaccine production capacity; the transformation of the sub-packaging workshop was completed in 64 days, ensuring timely vaccine supply.
