82 percent increase in foreign-funded enterprises in first five months
Twelve companies from Hong Kong in China, six American companies, five Korean companies, and two British companies-- they just kept adding up.
From January to May this year, 31 foreign-invested enterprises were newly added to the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA), a year-on-year increase of 82 percent.
The contracted foreign capital reached $1.02 billion, which was 8.5 times that of the same period last year; the actual use of foreign capital was $440 million, 2.2 times that of the same period last year.
In addition to attracting investment around the four leading industries, the BDA also attracted investment in industrial infrastructure and leading projects such as equipment manufacturing, and introduced a number of major projects in integrated circuits, new materials, and new energy and biomedicine.

In addition to the huge increase in the number of foreign investment in the BDA, the quality of these companies is moving towards "cutting-edge", and they’re more and more closely linked to the transformation and upgrading of local industries.
Over the years, the BDA has continued to open up further to the outside world, increase financial support, improve the policy system and functional layout and build an international and domestic dual cycle pattern. It has also released the "BDA Ten Items for Talents".
Through these series of measures, the BDA has attracted foreign investment as well as foreign intellectual property rights and talent teams.
To meet the connection needs of foreign capital when they come to the BDA for cooperation and promote the application of high-end technologies, the BDA has put a lot of effort into talent work, established Beijing E-Town International Talent Development Group, and set up a "talent service steward mechanism."
"We hope to attract and retain talents for the BDA through the improvement of talent services, so as to encourage more foreign high-end technologies to settle here," said the person in charge of Beijing E-Town International Talent Development Group.
