In recent years, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) has aimed at cutting-edge industries, accelerated the transformation of independent innovation into achievements, and boosted the construction of the Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center with intellectual property work. 

By the end of February 2022, enterprises in the BDA had 11,818 valid invention patents.

Among them, in the first two months of this year, enterprises in the BDA obtained a total of 1,798 patents, a year-on-year increase of 40.03 percent, including 410 invention patents, a year-on-year increase of 24.62 percent.

A total of 106 PCT patents (international invention patents) were applied, a year-on-year increase of 82.76 percent, which is much higher than the year-on-year increase of 31.82 percent in the same period last year. 

Aiming at the national strategy and industrial needs, the intellectual property patent layout of the BDA is gradually oriented towards internationalization.

Driven by the construction of the "Two Zones", the BDA has continuously explored a new system of intellectual property services and optimized the business environment. For instance, the BDA Branch of Beijing Intellectual Property Protection Center was established last year.

Up to now, the BDA has seven national intellectual property demonstration enterprises, 15 national intellectual property advantageous enterprises, 191 Beijing intellectual property pilot enterprises, and 83 demonstration enterprises.

As the BDA spares no efforts to promote the intellectual property work system, BOE plays a radiating role as a leading enterprise and invests a high proportion of operating income into research and development every year. 

As of 2021, the cumulative number of BOE's independent patent applications has exceeded 70,000. Among the annual new patent applications, more than 90 percent are invention patents and 35 percent are overseas patents. In the 2021 patent application list of the World Intellectual Property Organization, BOE ranks seventh in the world with 1,980 PCT patent applications.

In 2021, the company's LCD display shipments of five mainstream products such as monitors and smartphones ranked first in the world, and the sales area of its innovative application products will increase by 26 percent year-on-year, which further drove the technology of upstream and downstream companies.
