Walk into phase 3.0 of the autonomous driving demonstration zone
The construction of the "Two Zones" promotes policy and mechanism innovation to empower industrial development, and helps the Beijing High-level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone start a new chapter in its next phase.
Recently, the Leading Group Office for Development of the "Two Zones" of Beijing E-Town held a program on the "Two Zones" construction, and invited experts in autonomous driving, leading companies and relevant officials to explore the achievements of phases 1.0 and 2.0 of the High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Area, and to discuss the construction priorities of the phase 3.0 and the future development direction of autonomous driving.
Jie Fei, executive deputy director of the Beijing Autonomous Driving Office, introduced that the stages 1.0 and 2.0 focused on verifying the safety of "Vehicle-Road-Cloud" autonomous driving technology, and exploring the commercialization of autonomous driving, application scenarios, data security supervision and other aspects, to lay a solid foundation for the construction of phase 3.0.
In the future, on the basis of the 60-square-kilometer pilot area of Beijing E-Town, the construction of the surrounding 100-square-kilometer area will be promoted, and the expansion of the city's 500-square-kilometer demonstration area will be gradually completed.
Nie Yuren, general manager of Beijing Baidu Zhixing Technology Co, and Zhang Ning, vice president of Pony.ai, shared their experience of conducting autonomous driving test operations in the demonstration area, and discussed the safety of autonomous vehicle operation, the industrial collaboration of intelligent connected vehicles and the implementation of autonomous driving business models.
