9 Beijing E-Town companies listed on Global Unicorn Index 2023
What are unicorn companies? According to the Global Unicorn Index 2023 released by the Hurun Research Institute, non-public companies founded after 2000 and with a valuation of over $1 billion are defined as "unicorns."
Nine companies in Beijing E-Town were listed this time, namely JD Technology, Chipone, Mattson Technology, JD Industrial Products, ESWIN Computing Technology, LandSpace, CapitalBio Technology, JOINN Biologics and Galactic Energy. In addition, Pony.ai and i-Space, company subsidiaries located in Beijing E-Town, also made it to the list.

In which industries are unicorn companies operating? The list shows that the main areas are financial technology, software services, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence, with Chinese unicorn companies mainly focused on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and e-commerce.
The listed companies in Beijing E-Town mainly focus on the semiconductor, biotechnology, aerospace, and digital technology industries, with obvious advantages in their leading industries.
JD Technology has positioned itself in the integration of multiple real scenarios, while JD Cloud proposes a methodology for promoting industrial digital transformation around the entire supply chain, and was the first in the industry to launch the panoramic view of digital supply chain.
Chipone has been an innovator in the LED chip design industry and currently holds about one third of the global LED display chip market, ranking first in the domestic panel factory power management chip procurement with a 21 percent market share.
JOINN Biologics specializes in the field of biopharmaceutical CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organization), and with the construction of the largest bio-pharmaceutical outsourcing base in Beijing E-Town, it can provide end-to-end services covering large-molecule drug development to scale-up production for global partners.

To improve the investment and financing system and technology innovation service system, this year, Beijing E-Town issued special funds for technological innovation, with an annual budget of 400 million yuan ($57.73 million) to encourage innovation capital to invest early, and invest in small or technology enterprises, further enhancing the growth and development of unicorn companies.
