P4 Sino-British Precision Medicine Innovation Center lands in Beijing E-Town
The "P4 Sino-British Precision Medicine Innovation Center" officially landed in Beijing E-Town on Nov 27.
The event was hosted by the Beijing E-Town Administrative Committee and the Beijing State-owned Assets Operation Co under the guidance of the Zhongguancun Forum Office, as part of the 2023 Zhongguancun Forum series of technology exchange activities - the International Technology Transfer and Matchmaking Series (Biotechnology and Digital Healthcare Special Session).
Focusing on the field of "biotechnology and digital healthcare," the event aimed to deeply connect domestic and international resources in the biotechnology and digital healthcare industries, establishing an international technology transfer and matchmaking platform to promote collaboration and exchange in these areas.
During the event, with the presence of relevant leaders, the P4 Precision Medicine Accelerator from University College London signed an official agreement with Beijing Beike Yichuang Technology Co.
The two parties will jointly promote the establishment of the "P4 Sino-British Precision Medicine Innovation Center" in the Yizhuang Science and Innovation Park of the Beijing Science Park Development Group (BSD) in Beijing E-Town.
As the only accelerator in the UK dedicated to precision medicine, the P4 Precision Medicine Accelerator is one of the most active accelerators in the UK's health and life sciences ecosystem.
Its scope includes genomics analysis, drug targeting, biomarker discovery, diagnostics, and treatment in cutting-edge industries.
The center has made significant contributions to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in precision medicine and to the establishment of the industry ecosystem.
Going forward, the "P4 Sino-British Precision Medicine Innovation Center" will contribute to international cooperation in the field of health and life sciences between China and the UK and promote the construction of the Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center.
During the event, Nathan McNally, co-founder of the P4 Accelerator, and Li Jing, chairman of the Pharmacodia Information Technology (Beijing) Co shared insights into the development opportunities of precision medicine and digital healthcare in an international context.
As one of the four leading industries in Beijing E-Town, the biotechnology and healthcare industry has gathered more than 4,200 enterprises across the entire biopharmaceutical industrial chain.
In 2022, the total output value of the biopharmaceutical industry in the area accounted for 48 percent of the city's total.
Additionally, 27 innovative medicines were approved to enter Phase I clinical trials, representing 43.5 percent of the city's total.
