P4 China-UK Precision Medicine Innovation Center launches operation
Recently, the launch ceremony and project promotion conference of the P4 China-UK Precision Medicine Innovation Center was held at the BSD (Beijing Science Park Development Group) Yizhuang Science and Technology Innovation Park in Beijing E-Town.
The P4 Precision Medicine Accelerator, as the only accelerator in the UK dedicated to precision medicine, is one of the most active accelerators in the UK's health and life science ecosystem.
Its business scope covers forefront areas of the industry such as genomic analysis, medicine targeting, disease biomarker discovery, diagnosis, and treatment, playing an important role in promoting the growth of small precision medicine and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and building industry ecosystems.
"P4 stands for personalized, predictive, preventive, and participatory," said Nathan McNally, co-founder of the UK P4 Precision Medicine Accelerator.
According to sources, once the center is operational, it will focus on international projects in the biotechnology and digital medical fields, establish an international technology transfer docking platform, focus on innovative technological achievements in biotechnology and digital medical fields, and promote cross-border cooperation and exchanges.
BSD Yizhuang Science and Technology Innovation Park, as a professional park in Beijing E-Town for biotechnology and the major health industry, focuses on three major industry sectors and main links: large/small molecule medicine research and development, gene therapy research and production, and cell and gene technology.
It also supports the development of high-end medical equipment and technical testing services.
At the promotion conference, five cutting-edge projects from the UK, namely Chilton Computing (an advanced AI and data engineering company), Everybaby (a handheld premature screening medical device project), StoreGene (an integrated intelligent gene testing platform), Vivian Therapeutics (an AI-based personalized cancer diagnosis and treatment project), and ZIOHealth (a therapeutic medicine monitoring device), appeared in Beijing E-Town.
They interacted and exchanged ideas with onsite investment institutions, discussing the cooperation prospects for British projects landing in China.
