Renowned authors assemble at 7th China 'Online Literature+' Conference

The opening ceremony of the 7th China "Online Literature+" Conference was held at the Beijing ETrong International Convention and Exhibition Center on July 12, 2024.

Over 400 participants, including writers such as A Lai, Guan Pingchao and He Changzai, representatives from online literature and related industries, experts, scholars, industry regulators, overseas readers, and media representatives attended the event.

During the opening ceremony, the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association released the "2023 China Online Literature Development Report." 

According to the report, the revenue of the Chinese online literature market in 2023 reached 38.3 billion yuan ($5.27 billion); the total number of online literary works amounted to 37.86 million; 72,674 online literature IP adaptations were produced; and the revenue from the overseas market for online literature reached 4.35 billion yuan.

By the end of 2023, there were approximately 29.29 million authors on online literature platforms in China. The user base reached 550 million.

Following the opening ceremony, the main forum with the theme, "Inheritance, Development, and Mutual Learning: Telling the Story of Chinese Culture," was held.

Zhang Fu Ping, vice president of Douyin Group; Hou Xiaonan, CEO of China Literature Limited; Chen Ruiqing, chairman of Beijing Dianzhong Technology; and Xiao Yang, vice president of Baidu Group, delivered keynote speeches.

The conference ran from July 12 to 14, featuring sub-forums on creative criticism, online micro-short dramas, animation games and technology empowerment, and overseas exchanges. There were matchmaking and recommendation meetings, sharing salons, and other activities.
