UBTech recognized with World Internet Conference award
UBTech, a company based in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town), was among the winners at last week's 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology.
Twenty internationally representative annual award-winning projects were announced at the awards ceremony in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, with UBTech recognized for its "key technologies of humanoid robot embodied intelligence", the first project of its kind to be recognized by the WIC.
Some scientists have predicted that humanoid robots are likely to become another form of disruptive technology, similar in impact to computers or smart phones.
It was stated at 2024 WIC that UBTech has developed key technologies for embodied intelligence such as planning large models for general tasks, semantic visual synchronous positioning and map construction, and learning based motion control, endowing humanoid robots with intelligent "brains" and agile "cerebellum", accelerating their industrialization process.
UBTECH has trained a large multimodal planning model for general tasks through the integration of simulated scenarios and real data, enabling humanoid robots not only to "understand human language" but also to decompose and plan tasks in detail.
This innovative application and the difficulty of its implementation place UBTECH among the top tier in the global industry.
At present, UBTech is one of the few companies worldwide with full-stack technology capabilities for humanoid robots.
As of the end of June, UBTech had obtained more than 2,450 authorized patents globally and has led or participated in nearly 40 global standards related to intelligent robots.
"Moving forward, UBTech will continue to advance key technologies of embodied intelligence in humanoid robots, providing application demonstrations for their commercialization," said Qiao Jichao, vice-president of UBTech and director of UBTech Research Institute.
