Number of national-level green manufacturing enterprises in E-Town increases to 48
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released the list of green manufacturing enterprises for 2024, with eight enterprises from the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town) being selected.
The total of national-level green manufacturing enterprises in the area has now reached 48, ranking first in the city. Forty-one of them are national-level green factories and seven are national-level green supply chain management enterprises.
The Varian Beijing factory located in E-Town has gradually installed some photovoltaic panels.
"With regard to low-carbon management, we are implementing rooftop photovoltaic power generation, energy-saving renovations for building walls and roofs at the Beijing factory, achieving a 15 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions directly generated by burning fuels compared with 2023, and reducing annual greenhouse gas emissions indirectly generated by burning fuels by 500 tons," said a Varian Medical representative.
Additionally, the Varian Beijing factory has introduced sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) recovery equipment to achieve zero SF6 emissions.
As for energy efficiency upgrades, Varian's product design fully embodies green concepts. The medical linear accelerator Halcyon has low-energy consumption and an environmentally friendly design, reducing energy consumption by approximately 86 percent compared to traditional equipment. This not only improves treatment accuracy and efficiency, but also simultaneously benefits the patients and the environment.
In addition to green factories like Varian, the rise of green supply chain-leading enterprises is also an important highlight in the construction of a green manufacturing system in Beijing E-Town. As the "chain leader" enterprises hold a core position in the industrial chain, they not only attain green production themselves but also drive the green development of upstream and downstream enterprises, promoting the transformation of the supply chain toward going green.
Meanwhile, Beijing E-Town has introduced a series of policy and service measures to promote the green transformation of enterprises. In response to key and difficult issues in the green and low-carbon development process in the region, 27 support measures have been established in the major areas such as pollution prevention and control, energy conservation and carbon reduction, and green buildings.
"The green manufacturing enterprises and green factories in Beijing E-Town not only lead the city in terms of quantity, but also set a benchmark in the quality of green development," said an E-Town representative.
