Registration is open for the Beijing E-Town half-marathon, which will be held on April 13 alongside the world's first humanoid robot half-marathon.

Runners will race on the same track with humannoid robots, with a synchronized starting time.

Robots participating in this year's competition should have a humanoid appearance and be able to perform actions such as bipedal walking or running, rather than a wheeled structure. In terms of control methods, robots can be manually remote-controlled (including semi-autonomous) or completely autonomous.

Participating teams must adhere to the competition rules, including the competition route and all specific technical requirements, and ensure that the robot will not cause harm to the track, other participating robots, and surrounding personnel.

There will be first, second, and third prizes of 5,000 yuan ($690), 4,000 yuan and 3,000 yuan respectively. There will also be awards for completing the race, best endurance, best popularity, best gait, best creative form, and other series of awards. Rewards are also on offer for humanoid robot development teams.

The public registration platforms include the Ma La Ma La app, Shu Zi Xin Dong app, and the JD Qingyingka WeChat mini-program. The competition will invite humanoid robots from global robot companies, research institutes, robot clubs, universities, and other innovative entities to participate. Humanoid robots will compete alongside human participants over the 21.0975-ilometer race.

The half marathon will start from the south square of the Nanhaizi Park Phase I, and finish at the Tongming Lake National Park for Information Technology Application Innovation Industries.

Registration closes at 17:00 on March 11.
