Zhongguancun launches venture contest in Melbourne
China's leading business incubator operator Zhongguancun Development Group launched a venture contest in the Australian city of Melbourne on Oct 28.
Wang Xiaojia, the business counselor of the Chinese consulate general in Melbourne, attended the opening ceremony and announced the start of the contest.
The contest promises to be a major event in Australia and New Zealand's start-up scene. It aims to discover the most original projects, promote the development of emerging industries and attract the top talent to work in China.
The contest will focus on projects related to the new energy, new materials, smart grid, nanotechnology, medicine and biotechnology, modern equipment manufacturing, software and service outsourcing, financial services and culture industries.
Zhongguancun also hopes the competition will lead to Australian commercial projects and business models being introduced into the Chinese market, and promote high-level strategic cooperation between China and Australia.
A job fair was hosted in Melbourne on the same day. More than 60 Australian and Chinese enterprises attended the fair and talked with over a thousand students and scholars at the scene.
