The 2017 Annual Meeting of China IC Design Industry and Beijing IC Industry Innovation and Development Summit is being held in Beijing from Nov 16 to 17.

The forum, organized by Zhongguancun IC Design Park, with the theme of "Innovation drives development", deepens discussions on opportunities and challenges faced by integrated circuit (IC) industry. Emphasis is also put on strengthening the comprehensive competitiveness of the country's IC industry through improving its innovation abilities.

The two-day event consists of four parts: opening ceremony, summit forum, symposium and product exhibition. The Zhongguancun-featured industrial gala is presented as a platform of technology exchange and cooperation, exhibition of innovation and entrepreneurship projects, and integration of industry and investments.

More than 1,600 people including government leaders, industrial experts, representatives of IC industrial associations and companies attended the annual meeting.

The Zhongguancun IC Design Park signed a cooperation contract with China Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Co Ltd to build the ecological environment for China IC industry. The park also agreed cooperation with eight companies including OmniVision, Beijnig Zhaoxin, Beijing GigaDevice, and Arm Accelerator to jointly build a cluster of IC industry.

Wei Shaojun, head of the IC design council of the China Semiconductor Industry Association, delivered a speed during the summit on the development status, industrial distribution, and development trend of China's IC industry.

Xuan Hong, general manager of Zhongguancun Development Group, shared the company's experiences on building the Zhongguancun IC Design Park into an ecological park.

Xuan said that the company will explore a mode of "fund + base + incubation + tutor" along with the platform of Zhongguancun IC Design Park, integrating resources of technology, talents, platform and markets.

Covering a land area of 5.98 hectares, the Zhongguancun IC Design Park seeks to attract the world's top IC designers by offering potential enterprises nine industrial service platforms covering financial services, human resources, overseas match-making, technology services, living support, market promotion, incubation services and other public services.

Currently, the park is home to renowned IC companies such as GigaDevice, Vion Technology Inc, Spreadtrum Communications, Ingenic and Tongfang Microelectronics.

By 2020, the park is expected to generate annual revenue of 8 billion yuan ($1.2 billion), and advance its design capabilities in line with international standards to form China's largest IC design cluster.
