Chinese artificial intelligent (AI) start-up SenseTime Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co Ltd on the construction of four Lingang science parks in Shanghai on March 13.

The Zhongguancun-based SenseTime Group, valued at more than $2 billion, focuses on providing industrial solutions through AI and big data analysis.

According to the agreement, the two sides will work on the construction of an AI demonstrative park in Lingang Pujiang Science Park.

Efforts will also be made to help major industrial projects, such as a SenseTime AI Supercomputing Center and smart driving, to land at Lingang Science Park.

The two companies will jointly create platforms for AI researches and talents cultivation to promote AI technological innovation, industry incubation and professional training.

In addition, the two parties will also cooperate in AI industrial funds to promote AI technology innovation, achievement transformation, and industrial development.

Xu Li, co-founder and CEO of SenseTime Group, said that Shanghai is quickly becoming a global science and technology innovation center, which provides a good opportunity for cooperation between the two parties.

He expects that the two companies can promote intelligent upgrading of smart parks in Shanghai and boost the rapid development of Shanghai's AI industry.

SenseTime signed an all-round strategic cooperation agreement with the Shanghai Municipal Government in November last year to promote the AI industry in Shanghai.

SenseTime and Shanghai INESA Holding Group, a state-owned solution provider and operator of smart cities, also reached cooperation on March 11 to help Shanghai to build a smart city.
