International and domestic giants including BAIC, BYD and Toyota have joined the D-Alliance and will pull together their respective advantages in auto manufacturing, green energy, electric vehicles, digital mapping and internet of vehicles (IoT).

Aiming to "empower and redefine smart mobility", the D-Alliance will run an integrated open platform for car leasing, vehicle sharing, after-sales service and big-data analysis.

"In the future, D-Alliance will carry out new generations of electric vehicles to realize greener and smarter ride-hailing services," said Cheng Wei, founder and chief executive officer of Didi Chuxing.
