Z-Park puts innovation on display

Zhongguancun Science Park (Z-Park, also known as China's Silicon Valley), opened a special exhibition on Aug 24 to showcase its innovation achievements since 1978.

With an area of 10,000 square meters, the Zhongguancun administrative committee arranged five exhibition zones: history in review, pilot area for technology reform, innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, innovation achievements display and Z-park's future outlook.

The exhibition area for innovation achievements, in particular, showcases 340 state-of-the-art technologies of almost all the frontier sectors, including but not limited to information technology, new material, biological medicine, health care, clean energy and smart transport.

Eye-catching exhibits like facial recognition systems, liquid metal printers, surgical robots and unmanned helicopters will make up a technology carnival for visitors, no matter who they are and where they come from.

Also in the area, seven leading Zhongguancun enterprises, including Lenovo, Baidu, Xiaomi, 360, JD, Sogou and Didi, will demonstrate how they build their business empires over the past decades.

"The exhibition has four defining features," Zhai Lixin, director of the Zhongguancun administrative committee, said when addressing the opening ceremony.

First and foremost, the exhibition presents the most representative 340 innovation achievements from 170 Zhongguancun enterprises. Second, it highlights Z-Park's core technologies, intellectual properties and innovative elements in many frontier sectors. Thirdly, facial-reading technologies, driverless systems, smart translation and other useful products are demonstrated in scenarios. Last but not least, the exhibits will be updated regularly and open to to public on a weekly basis so that Zhongguancun achievements can encourage and enlighten a wider range of people.

The exhibition will make an important stage and platform to showcase the innovations and achievements in the Zhongguancun National Demonstration Zone, the determination and wisdom of Zhongguancun scientists, the triumphs and contributions of Zhongguancun enterprises and the textbook development mode of Zhongguancun pilot zone.

Starting Sept 1, the exhibition will open to the public every Saturday (except for statutory holidays), free of charge, so that residents and foreigners in Beijing can get to know the latest technology innovations in the first place.
