Xinwu district hosts events to celebrate Spring Festival

In celebration of the upcoming Spring Festival, Wuxi's Xinwu district launched a cultural tourism festival in Meili Ancient Town on Jan 12.

During the opening ceremony, a pair of giant Spring Festival couplets measuring 8 meters in length appeared at the gates of the town. People also enjoyed the festive atmosphere by watching dragon and lion dances, visiting intangible cultural heritage markets, writing Spring Festival couplets and taking part in folk performances.

Xinwu district will also offer a variety of cultural and tourism activities during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday.

In addition, the Hongshan Site Museum will display two jade treasures in the shape of a rabbit. Visitors can create lively rabbit relief works like fossils by imprinting the rabbit's shape on gypsum using clay as a board, and casting and sculpting gypsum based on the jade rabbit-shape collection in the museum.
