WND records robust growth in foreign trade

According to the latest customs data released on Nov 26, Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, or Wuxi New District, achieved significant growth in the trade of high-tech products during the first 10 months of the year.

Total imports and exports of high-tech products reached 202.93 billion yuan ($27.8 billion), marking a year-on-year increase of 16 percent. Exports stood at 117.41 billion yuan, up 11.2 percent, while imports grew 23.3 percent to 85.51 billion yuan. These figures accounted for over 75 percent of Wuxi's total high-tech product trade in the same period.

"Despite uncertainties in the global economy, WND's foreign trade continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience," said an official from the district's commerce bureau. Since August, the district has maintained double-digit monthly growth in trade. 

From January to October, WND recorded a total trade volume of 324.66 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth rate of 10.7 percent. Exports rose 6.7 percent to 188.39 billion yuan, while imports surged 16.7 percent to 136.28 billion yuan, representing 51.3 percent of Wuxi's total trade value.

The electronics industry played a pivotal role, contributing two-thirds of the district's trade volume and growing 16.2 percent year-on-year. Integrated circuits stood out with 95.8 billion yuan in trade value, a substantial 38 percent increase compared to the previous year. As a flagship industry, the IC sector continues to solidify its position, achieving an output of over 110 billion yuan in the first three quarters, with year-on-year growth rate exceeding 10 percent. 

Cross-border e-commerce also emerged as a key driver of high-quality foreign trade growth. From January to October, the district's cross-border e-commerce trade reached 1.13 billion yuan, a 21 percent increase year-on-year, highlighting its potential as a new engine for trade transformation and modernization.
