Wuxi New Distirct bade farewell to the old and welcomed the new with magnificent melodies at the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra's 2025 New Year Concert at the Wuxi Grand Theater on Jan 1.
From the outset, the melodious lyrics of Lotus Flower in Full Bloom, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, told of how Macao embodies a sense of youthful vitality under the guidance of the "one country, two systems" policy.
Another highlight of the concert was the debut performance by the Wuxi Youth Symphony Orchestra, which wowed audiences with a medley of world-renowned symphonic classics, including Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No 1, Beethoven's Symphony No 9 in D Minor, Op 125, and Bizet's Carmen Overture.
Traditional concert favorites such as On the Beautiful Blue Danube and Champagne Polka also conveyed heartfelt blessings and good wishes for the incoming year.
International violin virtuoso Vadim Repin enchanted the audiences with the timeless melodies of Gypsy Airs and Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, transporting listeners to the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna.
As the concert neared its conclusion, the cheerful rhythms and graceful notes of The Melody of Purple Bamboo echoed through the hall, elevating the festive atmosphere to its zenith.
