Key economic indicators of high-tech enterprises above designated size in Zhongguancun Science Park (January –June, 2014)

According to the statistical data of enterprises above a designated size from January to June 2014, the total income of Zhongguancun Science Park reached 1.4 trillion yuan ($229 billion) with a year-on-year growth of 15.8 percent; the gross industrial output value reached 366.32 billion yuan, accounting for more than 40 percent of the city’s total; the current employed population reached 1.683 million with a year-on-year growth of3.2 percent; the actual paid-in taxes reached 88.28 billion yuan with a year-on-year growth of 30.3 percent; the gross profit was 116.2 billion yuan with a year-on-year growth of 41.2 percent; the total export volume was $15.24 billion with a year-on-year growth of 23.7 percent; internal expenses on science and technology activities came to 46.53 billion yuan with a year-on-year increase of 11.3 percent; and the employees of science and technology activities numbered 430,000 with a year-on-year growth of 5.1 percent, occupying one quarter of the total employees in the park.

From January to June 2014, the enterprises in Zhongguancun applied for 18,186 patents in total, seeing a year-on-year growth of 18.2 percent and accounting for 30.8 percent of the gross patent applications of the whole city during the corresponding period.

On average, the enterprises in Zhongguancun applied for 100.5 patents per day, the applications for patent of invention reached 10,426, seeing a year-on-year growth of 18.4 percent. The enterprises in Zhongguancun have obtained 10,737 patents of invention and accounting for 30.5 percent of the gross patents of the whole city during the corresponding period.

Among these, 3,652 are patents of invention, which accounts for 33.7 percent of the park’s total with a year-on-year growth of 4.1 percent.

By the end of June, the enterprises in Zhongguancun Science Park have obtained 31,797 patents of invention, which accounted for 66.2 percent of the total of all enterprises in the city during the same period.
