In October 2012, with the approval of the State Council, Dongcheng Park was developed on the basis of the original Yonghe Park to increase the Longtan Lake area. It is planned to occupy 6.03 square kilometers.

Taking culture as its outcome and science and technology as its means, the park strives to integrate development of culture and S&T. Applying new information technologies such as the next generation of Internet and big data, the park actively develops mobile Internet industries in the entertainment, office space, electronic commerce and content service industries, and expands new digital service industries focused on culture, copyright issues, and other matters.

In response to the innovation and development demands of the cultural creative industry, sports industry and green low-carbon environmental protection industry, the sub-park has been actively bringing financial service institutions, such as cultural financial services, sports financial services and green financial services together to create an emerging industry financial service center with national influence that integrates investment and financing services, copyright trading, sports property rights trading and carbon trading in emerging industries.

At present, Dongcheng Park is focused on the construction of the Qinglong Cultural Innovation Block, Longtan Lake National Sports Industrial Base and other characteristic parks, bringing together more than 450 high-tech enterprises such as Enlight Media, COL Digital Publishing Group Co, dangdang.com, Caissa Touristic and CR Pharma.

Preliminary statistics show that in 2018, the total enterprise income was 254 billion yuan and the total profit was 20.7 billion yuan. Next, Dongcheng Park will focus on the development of software and information services and digital creativity (cultural creativity, animation games), and actively foster science and technology services and sports-related enterprises.
