In October 2012, with the approval of the State Council, the Beijing Shilong Economic Development Zone was incorporated into the Zhongguancun Science Park. After the merger it was renamed Mentougou Park and its planned area was expanded to 1.89 square kilometers. 

Building economy, headquarters economy and entrepreneurial economy have been greatly developed in the park. And an industrial system of "combination of main and auxiliary, and coordinated development" has been formed there. The Internet industry of the park is mainly in Internet business, Internet finance, and Internet +. Its intelligent manufacturing industry is mainly in chip design, intelligent equipment manufacturing, intelligent production, and the application of Internet in manufacturing; its  pharmaceutical health industry is mainly in pharmaceutical research and development, medical health equipment, pharmaceutical research and development service and intelligent medical service; and its energy-saving and environmental-protection industry is mainly in pollutant control technologies and equipment, energy-saving and environmental-protection materials, energy-saving and environmental-protection technology services, natural resources and environmental trading services. The park has successively promulgated the industrial policy of "30 articles for Mentougou innovation" and "19 articles for high-end industries". 

At present, Mentougou Park is speeding up the construction of Shilong Phase 5 Industrial Park and theShilong Phase 3 headquarters enterprise base, gathering more than 160 high-tech enterprises, examples of which are Chipone Technology, Lanxum, Bejing Jingdiao, Jianhua Technology, Beijing Wanhuishuanghe and Hua'erdun. 

Preliminary statistics show that in 2018, the park's total enterprise income was 30 billion yuan and its total profit was 2.3 billion yuan. Next, Mentougou Park will focus on industries such as intelligent equipment and actively foster industries like pharmaceutical health (biomedical, health services).
