The Department of Justice (DOJ) of the Philippines, through its National Prosecution Service (NPS) – Special Projects Division, successfully launched the Office of the Secretary of Justice (OSJPS) Mentoring Program on October 1, 2025.
The OSJPS Mentoring Program is a professional development initiative designed to build prosecutorial excellence, ethical practice, and internal cohesion within the OSJPS. The program will pair experienced prosecutors with new prosecutors in order to provide practical guidance, transfer of institutional knowledge, and values-driven support to help mentees navigate the challenges of high-profile and complex casework at the DOJ Main Office.
In his inspirational message, Undersecretary Jesse Hermogenes T. Andres, the DOJ official in charge to supervise the National Prosecution Service including the OSJPS, emphasized that the Mentoring Program is another effort in strengthening the capacity of the DOJ prosecutors.
"Through these efforts, we continue to elevate the competence of our prosecutors throughout the country and ultimately contribute to the swift and fair administration of justice. We are entrusted with the duty to perform the mandate that is on the shoulders of our institution, the great Department of Justice."
On the other hand, Prosecutor General Richard Anthony D. Fadullon underscored the importance of this initiative in strengthening the capacity of OSJPS prosecutors to deliver timely and effective justice. He expressed gratitude and appreciation to the mentors who have stepped forward to give their time and expertise, and the mentees who have embraced the challenge of learning and growth.
"This is how we build a stronger Prosecution Service—by ensuring that no one walks alone, that knowledge is shared, and that each generation of prosecutors is better prepared than the last."
Under the program, fifteen mentors and at least fifteen mentees shall participate in the pilot implementation. In the next 12 months, these mentors will provide mentoring support to their mentees to ensure the transfer of knowledge and best practices in criminal investigation and litigation to newer OSJPS prosecutors.
