Prosecutor training on Southeast Asian criminal law held in Nanning

The International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) and the National Prosecutors College of PRC jointly hosted a specialized training program in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, focusing on criminal law and prosecution related to Southeast Asian countries.

The event was organized by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People's Procuratorate and the China-ASEAN Prosecutors Exchange and Training Base (the Guangxi branch of the National Prosecutors College). A total of 109 prosecution professionals from across China who handle foreign-related criminal cases and criminal judicial assistance cases attended the program. 

Experts from the SPP's International Cooperation Bureau and the National Prosecutors College, along with key case-handling personnel including the principal prosecutors who took part in the prosecution of the Bay family crime syndicate in northern Myanmar, were invited to give lectures. Courses focused on the handling of criminal cases involving Southeast Asian countries, international law enforcement and judicial cooperation, the national conditions and legal systems of relevant countries, enhancing capabilities for combating transnational criminality and for the acquisition and examination of extraterritorial evidence, and application of laws.

Two cross-border exchange sessions were also held, with senior judicial representatives from Cambodia, Myanmar, and Singapore participating in in-depth, face-to-face discussions.

The Guangxi branch of the National Prosecutors College pledged to implement the guiding principles of the 15th China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference, focus on handling every case with high quality and efficiency, and steadily enhance trainees’ professional capabilities and their performance of duties.
