From June 11 to 19, Liu Qibao, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) , led a group from the Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies of the CPPCC National Committee to Anhui and Hunan provinces under a survey project themed "giving play to the role of culture in rural revitalization strategy". The project is a lead-up to a thematic consultative seminar of the CPPCC National Committee.
The team visited local cultural facilities, companies, and families in rural areas of both provinces to survey implementation of that strategy and cultural development. They held workshops with local authorities, experts and scholars.
Liu pointed out that implementation of the rural revitalization strategy was a key decision made by the 19th National Congress of the CPC. Culture is not only an important component of this special campaign but also a guarantee of its successful implementation. He called for taking an effective approach in line with actual rural conditions as guided by the core socialist values, protecting and developing fine traditional rural culture, offering equal access to standardized public cultural services, diversifying rural cultural experiences, providing training to new farmers, improving cultural and economic policies, and supporting rural culture development in order to comprehensively revitalize rural China.
