Lu Zhangong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), recently led a team of the CPPCC National Committee's Education, Science, Health and Sport Committee to survey the prevention and control mechanisms for major epidemics in Shanghai and Suzhou, a city in East China's Jiangsu province. The team visited hospitals, communities, schools and research institutes to learn the local situation from government officials, medical universities, experts, scholars and staff of communities. They also met with representatives of the local medical staff who were dispatched to Hubei province to fight the epidemic.
The team said that Shanghai and Suzhou had made effective explorations in implementing regular targeted epidemic prevention and control measures and establishing better public health systems and epidemic prevention and control mechanisms. They said they would learn from the experiences of the two cities in improving the prevention and control mechanism for major epidemics and the public health emergency management system.
This survey is part of the preparation for an upcoming bi-weekly consultative seminar of the CPPCC National Committee.
