A delegation consisting of members of the CPPCC National Committee conducted an inspection tour of post-epidemic Hubei province in Central China from Sept 9 to 12.

The delegation, led by Zhang Qingli, vice-chairman and deputy secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the CPPCC National Committee, encouraged the province to have confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics and rely on the people to prevent and control the pandemic.

In his speech, Zhang said the CPC Central Committee has been putting people's lives and health first and instituted a group of measures to prevent the pandemic and treat infected people, which helped secure the decisive victory in the battles to defend Hubei province and its capital city of Wuhan and was an important contribution to the country's fight against COVID-19.

He spoke highly of Hubei and Wuhan, the top priority and decisive link in the battle against COVID-19, and noted their achievements in optimizing the mechanisms for epidemic prevention and control, docking their own efforts with a package of supportive policies of the CPC Central Committee, promoting economic growth in an orderly manner, improving people’s livelihood, and developing the province into a model of disease prevention and control under a sound public health system.

The inspection tour was planned to carry forward the great virus-fighting spirit, help educate and improve the members of the CPPCC National Committee, strengthen ideological and political guidance on their duty performances, and forge a broad consensus, according to Zhang.

The centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee is the fundamental guarantee to overcome the impact of the epidemic while the idea of "doing everything for the masses, relying on them in every task" is the source of strength to conquer the virus, Zhang stressed.

He pointed out that the socialist system has incomparable superiority and the great advantage of "mobilizing necessary resources for big undertakings”, and praised the unbreakable spiritual unity of Chinese people and the CPPCC’s irreplaceable role in preventing and controlling the pandemic.

The delegates from all the 34 sectors of the CPPCC National Committee visited hospitals, communities, schools and enterprises in the cities of Wuhan, Huanggang and Qianjiang, where they learned about progress made in epidemic prevention and control and economic  development, showed their support for anti-epidemic personnel and held talks with local representatives.

The tour helped them better understand and recognize Hubei people's tremendous sacrifice and great contributions and further strengthened their confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
