Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended a video conference held by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) on the sci-tech innovation of private enterprises in Beijing on Nov 24.
Gao, also chairman of the ACFIC, hailed the role of private enterprises as main players in pursuit of sci-tech innovation, and gave a high recognition of their contribution to China's transition to a path of innovation-driven economic growth.
Gao made nine-pronged proposals for the further development of sci-tech innovation. They include increasing R&D spending, accelerating digital transformation, shifting to low-carbon operation and protection of intellectual property rights.
He also called for federations of industry and commerce to step up measures to improve their service, strengthen the infrastructure and promote best practices to guide and support innovation initiatives.
