A delegation of the Committee on Proposals of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) visited the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) on Dec 20 as part of its efforts to improve the CPPCC's proposal work in the new era.  

During the meeting, Liu Xincheng, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, said the study and implementation of the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China will remain a main political mission now and in the near future, as the key concept of the whole-process people's democracy places higher demands on the CPPCC work.

He also said such visits by the Committee on Proposals help strengthen communication, increase understanding and advance progress.

As a specialized consultative body, the CPPCC should incorporate consultative democracy in the thorough process of proposal submitting and handling, while institutes responsible for handling a proposal should also be down-to-earth, honest and open in their communication with the proposers, Liu said.

During the meeting, Qi Jianguo, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and vice-chairman of the Committee on Proposals, commended the CAPD Central Committee for always attaching great importance to proposal work and providing important intellectual support for the scientific and democratic decision-making process.
