Ho Hau Wah and Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairpersons of the 14th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, presented commemorative plaques and honorary certificates to members of the 13th CPPCC National Committee and its Standing Committee who were not re-elected, at ceremonies held in Hong Kong and Macao on May 5 and 8.

Zou Jiayi, deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the ceremonies and conveyed their sincere gratitude and respect to the Hong Kong and Macao members of the 13th CPPCC National Committee and its Standing Committee, on behalf of the 14th CPPCC National Committee Chairman Wang Huning and the 14th CPPCC National Committee.

Zou said that CPPCC members in Hong Kong and Macao have always fulfilled their duties for the country and the people, having actively provided advice and made great contributions to the achievements of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.

Zou affirmed that CPPCC members have played a positive role in promoting national economic and social development and maintaining long-term prosperity and stability in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions. They have also played a key role in maintaining the "one country, two systems" principle, and promoting the integration of Hong Kong and Macao into the overall development of the country.

Zou expressed hope that CPPCC members no longer serving will continue to support the work of the CPPCC, and contribute new wisdom and strength to its development.

On behalf of the former members of the 13th CPPCC National Committee and its Standing Committee, Yu Guochun and Liao Zeyun said that they will always cherish the honor and responsibilities they had as a CPPCC member, and will continue to devote themselves to the development of the country and the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao, in accordance with the CPPCC's requirements.

Zheng Yanxiong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Zheng Xincong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, attended the ceremonies and delivered speeches. Wang Wei, resident vice-chairman of the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the ceremonies.
