The China Zhi Gong Party Central Committee and the Hainan provincial committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) jointly hosted the 2023 China Development Forum in Haikou, South China's Hainan province, on Nov 21, with discussions focusing on how to recover and expand consumption.

In a keynote speech delivered at the opening ceremony, Jiang Zuojun, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the China Zhi Gong Party Central Committee, called for the earnest study and implementation of the plans on stimulating consumption made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and stressed the importance of accurately understanding the latest trends and characteristics of the country's upgrading consumption.

Jiang urged efforts to build a consumption community that highlights the coordinated development of supply, demand, and promotion to facilitate the synergy of multiple consumption modes. He also called for efforts to expand the international consumption market, enhance commodity supply capacity, and leverage the role of international consumption centers in driving consumption.

The meeting attracted more than 200 participants, including experts, scholars, overseas Chinese representatives, and officials from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Health Commission, local authorities in Hainan, and the central and local committees of the China Zhi Gong Party.
