Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, was elected president of the third Council of the China Institute of Theory on the CPPCC at its fifth meeting held on Nov 28.

In his speech, Wang, who is also secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, emphasized a profound understanding of the significance of strengthening theoretical research on the CPPCC. He called for more efforts to improve the institutional mechanism for theoretical studies, give full play to the role of the institute as a platform, and uphold the ideology of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era in guiding the CPPCC's theoretical research, which the meeting made arrangements to continue.

The meeting also reviewed the 2023 work report of the institute's third council and voted on personnel matters.
