From Nov 22 to 29, Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a delegation to conduct friendly visits to the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Lao People's Democratic Republic, at the respective invitations of the Cambodian Senate and the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction.
Shen met and held talks with leaders of the Cambodian People's Party, the Cambodian Senate, the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and the Lao Front for National Construction Central Committee. She also attended a Belt and Road themed activity hosted by the China-ASEAN center. During her stay in the two countries, she also visited China Datang's subsidiary projects in Cambodia and a China-Laos poverty reduction cooperation demonstration project, as well as the China-Laos Railway company, extending warm greetings to Chinese employees.
The delegation briefed the Cambodian and Lao parties on China's historic achievements and developments including the Chinese path to modernization, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), whole-process people's democracy, the targeted poverty alleviation initiative and green development endeavors in the new era. They also exchanged views with their Cambodian and Lao counterparts on promoting deeper exchanges and cooperation between the CPPCC National Committee and relevant institutions of the two countries.
The leaders of the two countries spoke highly of China's great achievements, and expressed their willingness to learn from China's development experience. Cambodia and Laos, they added, will strengthen the alignment of the BRI with their national development strategies, and push forward the development of the China-Cambodia and China-Laos communities with a shared future to achieve more practical results.
