The Yunnan provincial committee of the Jiusan Society held a conference to celebrate its 40th anniversary in the provincial capital of Kunming on Dec 20. Shao Hong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, delivered a speech at the conference. 

Shao extended congratulations to the Yunnan committee. He noted that, over the past four decades, the  Jiusan Society in the province has firmly upheld the leadership of the Communist Party of China, consistently followed the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, united and led its organizations at all levels and its members to carry forward the fine traditions of patriotism, democracy and science, and uphold fundamental principles and break new ground, making significant contributions to Yunnan's socialist modernization, development of the united front and multi-party cooperation.

Shao called on the committee to fulfill its role as a political party participating in State governance, stay confident, forge ahead with enterprise and fortitude, and constantly develop the Jiusan Society, so as to make new and larger contributions to building a modern socialist country and advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
