CPPCC’s Committee on Economic Affairs holds plenary meeting

The Committee on Economic Affairs of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its third plenary meeting in Beijing on Jan 20. The meeting reviewed the committee's work in 2024 and outlined plans for 2025. CPPCC National Committee vice-chairpersons Wang Yong and Gao Yunlong both addressed the meeting.

The meeting noted that, in 2024, the Committee on Economic Affairs fully implemented the work requirements of the leading Party members group of the CPPCC National Committee, prioritized political guidance, consistently improved quality of consultations and deliberation on State affairs, as well as of research and study. It consolidated and expanded the outcomes of the thematic education campaign, carried out education on the disciplines of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and further intensified collaboration with economic affairs committees of local CPPCC committees, fulfilling its duties in promoting high-quality national economic and social development with concrete actions, the meeting noted. 

Looking ahead to 2025, the meeting emphasized the importance of upholding the CPC's overall leadership on CPPCC work, and fully leveraging its foundational role as a specialized committee. 

The committee will unite and guide members from related participating groups to closely align their efforts with the guiding principles of the Central Economic Work Conference, focus on key reform and development tasks, and adapt to changes in the economic landscape. It will also strengthen ideological guidance, provide suggestions, gather collective efforts, and continuously enhance capabilities to perform duties, striving to achieve the goals of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and lay a strong foundation for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).
