Yang Zhen, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team of CPPCC National Committee members to Guangdong province from April 13 to 17 to conduct a supervision survey on the handling of a key proposal, which centered on unleashing the potential of the sports industry to boost consumption.
The team visited manufacturing enterprises, sports institutions, stadiums, public fitness facilities, and cultural-sports integrated neighborhoods in the cities of Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang. They gained a detailed understanding of the specific measures, experiences, achievements and challenges in local efforts to leverage the sports industry to stimulate consumption. The team also held discussions and exchanges with representatives of relevant departments, business entities and consumer groups to gather extensive opinions and suggestions.
The team members emphasized the importance of deepening the understanding of how the high-quality development of the sports industry can drive consumption. The CPPCC should actively play its role to propose practical and effective suggestions on key issues such as transforming public sports services into consumption potential, enhancing in-depth integration capabilities of the sports industry and stimulating the innovative vitality of market players, they noted.
Officials from the Committee on Proposals of the CPPCC National Committee, the General Administration of Sport, and the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPPCC also participated in the event.
