The Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) held a symposium on May 7 regarding targeted assistance work in Anlong county of the Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, Guizhou province.

Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Outlining requirements for future assistance efforts, Zhu emphasized enhancing awareness of the overall situation and demonstrating a strong sense of mission. He urged efforts to align targeted assistance with the goals of accelerating the building of an agricultural powerhouse and advancing the modernization of agriculture and rural areas. He emphasized the need to shoulder responsibilities, ensure sound implementation of tasks, promote the spirit of dedication and pursue tangible results.

Zhu underscored that a correct view of governance performance should be established and practiced in the assistance work. He encouraged carrying forward the fine traditions of the CAPD and maintaining a pragmatic approach to advance various initiatives. In addition, he called for leveraging the association's sector-specific advantages to summarize past experiences.

Wang Gang, vice-chairperson of the CAPD Central Committee, presided over the meeting. Also in attendance were Li Heping, chairperson of the CAPD Anhui Provincial Committee; Lu Xiulu, chairperson of the CAPD Guangdong Provincial Committee; and Sun Fa, chairperson of the CAPD Guizhou Provincial Committee.

During his stay in Guizhou, Zhu visited Minzu Normal University of Xingyi, Anlong county´s Bapan village, and the No 4 Primary School and Puping Middle School in the county. He also visited the CAPD Qianxinan Prefectural Committee and met with officials dispatched by the CAPD Central Committee to serve as local cadres.
