Xi'an residents visit main venue for 14th National Games

A total of 400 citizens from Xi'an's districts, counties and development zones visited Xi'an Olympic Sports Center on March 22. The center will serve as the main venue for the 14th National Games, which will be held on Sept 14-27.

Xi'an Olympic Sports Center is located in Xi'an International Trade and Logistics (ITL) Park.

The citizens first visited the main venue for the opening ceremony of the 14th National Games -- the center's stadium. The shape of this 60,000-seat stadium is based on the flower of Xi'an, the pomegranate flower.

The stadium's magnificent design amazed many of the visitors, and everyone took out their mobile phones to take pictures.

The Xi'an residents were also deeply impressed with the center's 18,000-seat gymnasium. It will host professional events such as ice hockey, basketball and badminton.

The swimming and diving hall features a stunning diamond-shaped colonnade and glass curtain wall. The facility will host the swimming and diving competitions of the 14th National Games.

"I am very happy to be here today. Not only do I feel the magnificence and beauty of Xi'an Olympic Sports Center, but also the stronger atmosphere of the National Games," said a sports enthusiast from Weiyang district. "In September of this year, friends from all over the country are welcome to come to Xi'an to watch the games and taste the city's food."

From March 22 to 26, following strict pandemic prevention and control measures, 400 citizens will visit Xi'an Olympic Sports Center daily to experience the strong atmosphere of the 14th National Games.
