A cargo plane fully loaded with anti-epidemic materials, daily necessities and e-commerce goods took off on Dec 22, from Wenzhou Longwan International Airport, bound for Los Angeles International Airport in the United States.
The departure marked the launch of a new international freight route between Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province and Los Angeles.
It is the second international air freight route opened by the airport this year, after the first opened on Nov 29 to Italy.
The debut of the LA air freight route is filling a gap in trade logistics channels with the US and increasing the international transport capacity of Wenzhou Longwan International Airport.
It is also said to be providing strong support for the development of cross-border e-commerce and other new business formats, as well as for the import of consumer goods.
Moving forwards, the airport will launch a new cargo route to Tokyo in Japan, to further promote the development of the airport economy in Longwan.
This is expected to contribute to Wenzhou's development as an import commodities distribution center, which radiates out to southern Zhejiang, northern Fujian and eastern Jiangxi provinces.
