Tonglu county, administered by Hangzhou, provincial capital of Zhejiang, is becoming an increasingly livable place.
In 2020, the county was honored as a national civilized city again after it won the honorary title for the first time in 2017.
Tonglu has continued making efforts to improve its appearance. Since last year, a total of 17 dilapidated residential communities in the county have been renovated.
The local government has also managed to improve the county's sanitation and regulate the parking of electric bicycles and tricycles.
Efforts have been made to improve local residents' civility, for example, by encouraging them to sort their garbage and to use serving chopsticks and spoons during group meals.
In addition, volunteer services available to local residents have improved Tonglu's livability.
In the Zhonghang residential community in Chengnan sub-district, a volunteer team composed of Party members and retired workers has been established to help seniors over the age of 75 in the community deal with incidents such as malfunctioning lights, pumps and home appliances.
